60 years of experience...
Upper Ridge Inc. is the culmination of the combined efforts of new, young talent, and old school experience. Founders Joel I. Edwards and John P. Hovanec decided to combine their knowledge and experience of construction in 2016 after years of working together on numerous projects in and around the City of Philadelphia. Together they have achieved the highest level workmanship in new builds, renovations and additions, and historic preservation. Their sister company Old Capitol Custom Millwork Inc., can support them with any high quality historic millwork to complete even the most demanding preservation projects.
Joel Edwards
As a former PIAA State Wrestling champion and Penn State Wrestler, Joel has always strived for excellence. After his successful college wrestling career, Joel worked as an Ironworker, a project manager at a large local builder, and eventually went on to start his own business. After a successful run on his own, he decided to combine efforts with John and form Upper Ridge Inc. Joel has a broad range of experience in every aspect of construction.
John Hovanec
John was born to work with his hands. In high school, he was a stand-out wood shop student who never missed an opportunity to be in the shop. He built everything from a cherry captains chair, to a solid oak wood hutch. He started in construction in the early 80's, beginning as a framer and quickly working his way up to finish carpentry in his early 20's. After gaining decades of experience, he decided to go out on his own and start his own business where he has had a leadership role in hundreds of projects ranging from small kitchen/bath remodels to full scale housing developments.
